About Twenty-07: Ethical approval for the Twenty-07 Study
Initial approval for the Twenty-07 Study was given in 1987 by the Ethical sub-committee of the West of Scotland Medical Committee. Each subsequent set of contacts was approved by the University of Glasgow's Ethics Committee for Non-Clinical Research Involving Human Subjects. The study follows ethical principles as set out in the Medical Research Council's Ethics and best practice guidelines.
The Tayside Committee on Medical Research Ethics, which has responsibility for scrutinising proposals for medical research on humans, examined the 2007 proposal, which includes collection of blood samples, and has raised no objections from the point of view of medical ethics.
